[He appreciates how much she listens, especially since he does get rather homesick at times. It's good to have Toothless with him, very good, but he's still accustomed to being in a world surrounded by thousands of dragons that suddenly being in a world with only one isn't quite the same.
But she's sweet to let him ramble, a warming upward twist of his lips into a grateful smile slipping with his words.] Yeah, it's been really great. I've never been happier.
[He huffs a laugh, tilting his chin up at her.]
So you seem to be really fascinated by this whole dragon thing. You really interested in them?
[ it's not a sufficient answer but it'll take her another moment to put her thoughts into words. it's not that morgana met many dragons, or any at all but that dragons, much like people of magic, feel like a sort of kin to her. a kin that was taken away from her by uther, yes, but a kin still, a being of an old world that's quite gone. ]
they once roamed in my realm; but no longer.[ seb fjhff ]
[He actually quiets down upon hearing that, words caught in his throat. That's never the sort of thing he wanted to find out, but he wonders if it's inevitable. But no longer. His village might have befriended dragons, but there were still so many out there that would still go in for the kill, still so many that feared. It was likely the same was a fact in other worlds.]
[ not dragons, not men nor women nor children. not his own ward though morgana wants, at times, nothing more than to spit the truth in his face and be done with the whole thing. it would mean a sure death and the threat is enough to keep her silent.
[His shock only lasts momentarily. Because he understands; he's been there. It's hardly been five or six years since their war with the dragons had ended. And that was only Berk's war. Villages and tribes all over were still fighting, still believing them to be murderous creatures.
He frowns, running a hand through his hair.] It's not hopeless, you know. My dad, he was the chief, probably the most stubborn guy in the world, but his mind was changed. There's way to show people, to make them understand.
There is a difference, however, between stubborn and mad with hate.
[ there is an edge there. an old bitter anger that sits in her chest, usually asleep but every now and then, something wakes it, causes her gaze to harden. uther will never understand, not ever. she had seen too much death in her life to believe otherwise ]
Our king is blinded by it and he has the whole kingdom think anyone who has magic is evil.
[ and he will kill them all, every last one, including her. the thought is chilling ]
but - I know that one day there will be another king and I'm certain people will see that magic can be used for good.
